Brave Wallet integrates Cardano blockchain and expands Web3 support with a focus on privacy

Web3 browser Brave, recognized for prioritizing user privacy, has announced the integration from the Cardano blockchain to its native wallet, strengthening its ecosystem of multi-chain support. The news was announced on May 12, as a result of a partnership with Input Output, the company behind the development of Cardano.
According to the announcement, Brave Wallet will now allow token management and direct access to the Cardano network, all within the browser interface itself. Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave and Basic Attention Token (BAT), said:
“Integrating Cardano into Brave Wallet not only expands multi-chain access, but also improves security, governance participation, and the overall user experience.”
This integration represents an important step in Brave’s goal of providing tools that make it easier to interact with decentralized ecosystems. Brave Wallet already supports Ethereum and Solana, and now includes Cardano and its privacy-focused sidechain, Midnight.
Midnight, a sidechain created by Shielded Technologies — a spin-off of Input Output — was cited in the announcement as one of the beneficiaries of the new integration. The solution is focused on confidential smart contracts and data protection. Input Output CEO Charles Hoskinson recently discussed the idea of enabling free transactions on Midnight for users with NFT tickets. The proposal would involve giving away NFTs upon sign-up, guaranteeing a daily number of free transactions.
According to Hoskinson, this model would allow for the creation of free accounts and applications similar to Web2, but operating on cryptocurrency infrastructure, without requiring users to own tokens. This broadens the range of use cases while keeping the user experience simple.
The announcement further indicates that this is just the first step in a broader collaboration between Brave and Input Output, which should explore more possibilities involving Cardano governance and innovations in Midnight.
